Hi! I'm Stacy, the Frugal Mom, thanks for checking out my blog. I am a wife and mom of two girls who decided to start a blog one day. Why you ask? Of course so I could share all my infinite wisdom and knowledge! In all honesty, I started couponing heavily in 2009 and playing the drugstore game, I loved to come up with scenarios that allowed me to get the most products for the least amount of money. I started sharing these with friends on facebook and soon had people waiting for me to post my deals on Sunday. I thought that maybe there was a better way that I could share my deals.
So, I decided to start a blog one day. It was a hot summer day and I may have been outside too long because I conjured up the notion that others would come to my blog. A Field of Dreams moment of sorts...write it and they will come. Since there are a few thousand other money saving blogs out there in blog land I thought my blog may need a bit more...but what?? I pondered this for a minute or two and then one of my kids started spraying me with a water hose, I had to go get revenge so the pondering stopped...that sort of thing happens a lot to me.
During a conversation with my friend about a recent DIY project at my house it hit me....a DIY section on the blog. See, I am a full on HGTV addict. My addiction started with the TLC show Trading Spaces, back before they made it weird and ruined it. Since my hubby and I got married right out of college there never seemed to be enough money in the budget to redo a room with everything from the Pottery Barn catalog that I so longed for. So, I would do my best at a DIY transformation. Overtime my skills got better and I got more brave. Now, I would say I am pretty good at coming up with some fun and cheap ideas. I decided that the world would want to tap in to my insight so I included it on the blog too.
The third part of my blog was born out of necessity. You gotta eat, right? I have always tried to feed our kids healthy food. While I am by no mean a gourmet chef, I do like to share some yummy and healthy recipes that are family friendly. Along with that, my new goal is to feed my family of 4 for under $60 a week so I am experimenting with the best ways to do that and not eat beans ad rice everyday.
Now, you may be saying to yourself, I don't think I can learn this whole coupon biz. Trust me, I am a couponing convert and you can be too. Back when my husband and I both worked I never used a coupon and rarely paid attention to prices. I would like to go back in time and smack that version of me for being an idiot! Here is a little confession: When it was just the hubs, me and our oldest kiddo we used to spend $500 - $600 a month on food. It really pains me to write that. I never thought twice about getting the $3 mini muffins our daughter wanted, now I could make 3 dozen for that price!!! So even if you are skeptical, just stick your toe in and test the couponing waters with me!
In case you want to know more about me, not sure why you would, but here goes. I am a stay-at-home mom to our girls Quinn, 7 and Reagan, 4 and wife to Lance. We live in the mountains of WV near the little town where I grew up with our CRAZY dog, Bo. It takes over and hour to get to the nearest mall, Sams or Target and Wal-Mart is about the only place I have to grocery shop. But we enjoy the kind of life a small town has to offer. To give you a better insight into me here are some things I love: God, my family, being outdoors, photography, reality TV, being sarcastic (it come natural but I love it), my wonderful friends, Fudge Rounds, Diet Mtn. Dew, HGTV, soccer, 4-H, volunteering at my kids school, doing projects with Photoshop, the beach, reading, pasta, my iphone, and WVU football and Basketball.
